TouchPayGo was prominently displayed at the February eCarExpo fairs in Sweden and Norway. The payment device has already reached a large installed base in Sweden.
TouchPayGo is a new type of payment device that combines both parking and charging payment in one smart device. The payment unit was presented at TouchPayGo’s own booth, where it was possible to try the device.
– The trade fair was a success for us, says Mats Monié, TouchPayGo’s Swedish Sales Director.
TouchPayGo features offers not only for the parking operators but also towards charging operators, in order to meet the requirements of the AFIR legislation. AFIR will come into force in the middle of April 2024.
Another advantage of the payment unit is that it is independent of charging device manufacturers. TouchPayGo is suitable for existing charging networks, enabling smooth card payments without major changes to current payment systems.
The device’s design and easy operation using the touch screen also garnered praise at the eCarExpo events.
First parking, then charging
The Swedish customers of the TouchPayGo payment unit have mostly been parking operators, who gradually bring charging services to their areas.
– For our customers who operate parking areas, it is important to be able to bill for parking flexibly according to the actual parking time, regardless of how much the car is ultimately charged during parking, Mats says.
TouchPayGo fits this need well. All in all, the payment device has already been installed in about fifty locations in Sweden. The extensive installation base has also shown the device’s reliable operation in cold and damp conditions, as the winter has been hard in Sweden as well.
At the eCarExpo charging operators were especially interested in the new type of payment device. TouchPayGo will be seen as a payment unit for the mobile charging rigs of the Swedish gas station chain Preem.
eCarExpo plans to make entrance in Finland
eCarExpo is Europe’s largest trade fair for electric cars and related technology. It has been organized since 2016 in Sweden and now also for the first time in Norway. In February, the Stockholm fair had up to 15,000 visitors, while the Oslo event attracted 9,000 visitors.
The main focus of the event is on consumer products, but charging device manufacturers and payment system suppliers are also represented at the event.
TouchPayGo will be seen at other fairs in the following years. Next fair is Intertraffic Amsterdam in the spring and then ITS World Congress in Dubai in the fall. Next year, you can get to know the payment unit even closer at eCarExpo in Finland. The event will take place at Helsinki Messukeskus in April 2025.
